Q: Where can I get current virus information? 

A: For information regarding the top known virus's go to www.symantec.com.au for all information regarding known & hoax virus's.

 

Q: What is Spyware & How can I combat them
A:  Spyware, are programs that are installed onto your computer without or with your knowledge. These could be Pop-up windows that display advertisements or programs that dial unknown numbers each time you connect to the Internet. There are many forms of spyware. some are Cookies that are left after each internet page being viewed, some are just ad's that display anything from( Buy Viagra to Increase your income) and some are harmful to your computer (e.g. Key loggers, Trojan Down loaders, ect). There are programs that combat these spyware attacks, they are Ad-Aware SE, Microsoft Anti-Spyware and Spy-Bot Search & Destroy. 

 

Q: Is Windows 95, Windows 98/98 SE/ME & Windows 2000 being phased out by Microsoft® ?

A: Yes, Time has come for the Windows 95,98,ME & Windows 2000 family to retire, Microsoft® is unable to provide technical assistance via telephone support for these products now. Info is still available via the Microsoft website but will be very limited 

 

Q: What are Johnson Computer Solutions Service Fees?
A: JCS charge a standard $99 callout fee, which includes the first hour, then $49.50 for each subsequent half hour. (Public Holiday / After hours rates are: Callout:$165 (includes first hour) then $165 for each subsequent hour)

 

Q: Can I get help during business hours?
A:  JCS is now running a full time service to cater for all Home and Small businesses in the Greater West area.

 

Q: Is it possible to have the Microsoft updates on a Compact Disk?

A: No, as there are many different operating systems that require different updates there is no way of loading them onto a compact disk. You can download the updates via the Microsoft® Windows Update site through your operating system software.
